1:1 Initiative

In 2017, Shenandoah School Corporation received the Innovation Planning Grant to advance 1:1 technology initiatives.  On March 27, 2018, the SSC Board of Education approved the funding of a 1:1 initiative through textbook rental.  Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, existing Corporation devices (k-1 iPads, 2-8 Streams and/or ProBooks) were collected and assigned to K-8 students, while new devices (Dell 3189 touch-screen laptops) were purchased for grades 9-12.  All students purchase insurance, however, only those in the high school are currently charged textbook rental for devices.  Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, SSC will charge all students a Technology fee for a device.

Students are responsible for maintaining a 100% working device at all times. The student shall use reasonable care to ensure that the device is not damaged - see Standards for Proper Use and Care.  In the event of damage not covered by the warranty, SSC reserves the right to charge the Student or Parent(s) the full cost for repair or replacement when the damage occurs due to negligence, loss, or theft.  Parents interested in purchasing additional device coverage should check with their personal insurance provider.
