Shenandoah School Corporation is thrilled to announce that the following initiatives were approved at our recent School Board Meeting, held on Monday, April 18th:
All Day Prekindergarten Program
Shenandoah Elementary School is in the process of hiring a licensed teacher and aide to lead our full-day prekindergarten classroom for the 2022-2023 school year. Located in a newly renovated and state of the art early education classroom, the program is initially planned for 20 students. Based on Indiana’s Early Learning Development Framework, the program will aim to provide high quality early learning experiences to prepare children for Kindergarten. Students who attend our program will develop solid fundamentals in literacy, math, social emotional skills, as well as engagement in learning. Look for more information in the coming weeks!
Esports Program
SSC is the first school in Henry County to offer an Esports program! Esports is a growing phenomenon offering a whole new group of students amazing opportunities for personal and professional growth. In addition to the well-documented social and physical benefits of group activities, Esports is able to offer students improved academic and professional opportunities. In essence, an Esports team is a fun way for students to reach their potential. The program will be centrally located in the high school, but will initially be open to students in grades 8-12. The updated room will include new computers, monitors, software, and furniture to support our program. Practices will begin in mid-August in preparation for competition this winter. Students should pay attention to school website, social media, and school announcements for more information!
Student Fees Waived
Once again, SSC will be waiving curricular fees for the 2022-2023 school year. We realize the past few years have been difficult on everyone and hope that this will help parents and families. Since our schools receive important funding based on our free and reduced population, parents should continue to fill the free and reduced application when enrolling students for the 22-23 school year.
